The Antelope Valley Enterprise Zone

                                   

 

1.      An "enterprise zone" is an special area designated by the
        California State Trade & Commerce Agency to encourage
        and stimulate economic growth, investment, and employment.
        Taxpayers who conduct business and work within the boundaries
        of an enterprise zone may qualify for special state tax incentives.    
      
2.      The Enterprise Zone benefits last until January 31, 2012.
     
3.      The AVEZ covers 61 square miles in both Lancaster and Palmdale.

4.     All businesses in the Enterprise Zone automatically qualify. 
       No fees or applications required.  
     
5.     Proprietorships, partnerships, or corporations- all qualify. 
      
6.     Both existing and new businesses qualify.     
     

  

                                ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF THE ENTERPRISE ZONE

     1. Business owners can:
         - use employee prescreening assistance
         - benefit from employee recruitment assistance
         - receive assistance with employee education/training
         - utilize AV's One Stop Career Center that gives both
           employer's and workers a central contact point for jobs within the Enterprise Zone.

      2. Businesses can reduce state income taxes through the following tax incentives:
         - Net operating loss carryover; carry over losses to future years.
         - State sales and use tax credits on qualified machinery.
         - State hiring tax credits, up to $26,000 over 5 yrs per qualified employee hired.
         - Business expense deductions on equipment, furniture, fixtures, and other
           depreciable personal property.
         - BANKS outside the EZ that make loans to businesses inside the EZ, may deduct direct
            expenses incurred in making the loan from the interest income the bank receives.
