RemarksLocated just 1.5 miles NW of Mojave Airport, the center of the private sector effort to begin the commercialization of outer space. Property is located on the east side of Hwy 58, 1.5 miles north of the Hwy 14 cutoff. Although property has just one assessor's number, parcel is divided into three parcels by Hwy 58 and the Southern Pacific RR tracks. Presently zoned agriculture / rural. Electricity is present on the west side of Hwy 58, with an underground telephone cable also on the west side of Hwy 58. Due to Hwy 58 frontage, two of the three parcels have legal access. The third parcel, west of the RR tracks, may have legal access in the near future, as a private party is looking to extend Holt St, north from Arroyo Ave, to subject parcel, to service a property they have in the area. When you visit this parcel, also go over and visit Mojave Airport; it is now undergoing an aerospace growth spurt and is a hub of activity.

The effort to commercialize space is a serious one. Englishman Richard Branson, and his company Virgin Galatic, have a joint venture with Scaled Composites out of Mojave, to build the first commercial space craft. Called SpaceShipTwo, the craft will carry 6 passengers, a pilot, and co-pilot. The craft has large portholes and is designed inside to allow passengers room to float around. For five minutes of weightlessness, each passenger will pay $200,000. Initial flights will take off from Mojave Airport with a 1st year goal to put 500 people into space. This is roughly the same number of people who have gone to space the first 45 years of space travel. Test flights of the larger SpaceShipTwo are to begin next year, with actual tourist flights by 2008. Branson also owns Virgin Airlines, Virgin Records, and the cell phone provider, Virgin, and has an estimated networth of $2.6B.

Buyer(s) should verify the location and access costs of all utilities, and any potential land use desired.

SAFETY & CAUTION: Anyone inspecting, or walking on the property,
off the road, should be aware that rattlesnakes and other desert wild life
could be in the area.
Be careful and use common sense!

Directions to Property: From Lancaster, proceed north on Fwy 14, going past Rosamond, all the way to Mojave, about a 30 minute drive from Lancaster. Proceed through downtown Mojave (past the east bound Hwy 58 cutoff). Once past Oak Creek Rd cutoff, you will soon see the Hwy 14 cutoff to your right. Bypass it staying to the left, going north on Hwy 58. Subject property is 1.5 miles north of this Hwy 14 cutoff, on both sides of Hwy 58. My signs are on both sides of Hwy 58.
